About TTNZ — Technician Training New Zealand
About TTNZ

Where technicians
are actually made.

TTNZ carries the same training system that began in a real repair shop in Australia. What started as hands-on, in-person training has grown into one of the most thorough device repair training programs available — now teaching students across Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

Our story

Built inside
a real repair shop.

TTNZ's training didn't start as an online course. It started in Australia, inside a working repair business — the kind of place where phones come in broken and leave fixed. That hands-on environment is where the training was developed, refined, and tested on real devices, real faults, and real customers.

A dedicated training centre was built where students trained the way technicians actually work — not from theory, but from practice. Real tools. Real screens. Real components. The kind of training that makes you capable from day one.

Students kept asking: can I learn this online? Not because they couldn't travel — because they trusted what was built and wanted access to it wherever they were. So it was built. And refined over five years based on real student feedback until the online experience matched — and in many ways exceeded — the in-person version. That same system is what now runs as TTNZ in New Zealand.

How we teach

The TTNZ way —
no shortcuts.

Most tutorials speed things up. We slow things down. Because real technicians don't rush — they understand. Here's what makes our training different.

01 — LANGUAGE FIRST
You learn the industry language
Before you touch a device you learn how repair shops talk — the terminology, the tools, the abbreviations. When a customer describes a fault, you know exactly where to start.
02 — REAL TIME
Not sped up. Not edited out.
Our lessons run at real repair speed. You see every step. Nothing is cut. Because learning happens in the moments most tutorials skip over.
03 — TECHNIQUE
You build proper technique
It's not just about getting the screen off — it's about how you hold the tool, where you apply pressure, and why. Technique you carry to any device, any model.
04 — REAL SCENARIOS
Trained on real world problems
We use examples straight from the shop floor — faults we've actually seen, mistakes real beginners make, and the fixes that work. Not textbook problems. Real ones.
05 — PROGRESSIVE
Each lesson builds on the last
We start with an iPhone 7 — not because it's the latest, but because it teaches you the fundamentals. By the time you reach newer models, you already have the foundation.
06 — TAKE NOTES
We recommend taking notes
Students who take notes retain more, move faster, and feel more confident in their first real repair. We build that habit from lesson one.
Built by student feedback

The online course
students asked us to build.

Students didn't stop asking — can I do this online? So it was built, then spent five years improving based on real feedback from real students. Every gap, every confusing moment, every question that kept coming up — fixed. The result is a course that keeps getting better because students say exactly what works.

We also solved the biggest problem with online repair training: you need something to actually practise on. That's why the Double Certificate includes real training devices and a full professional toolkit shipped to you. You learn on the same devices we use. No borrowing a friend's phone. No excuses not to practise.

After you graduate

We don't just train you —
we set you up.

Most courses end at the certificate. We understand that the certificate is just the beginning — and what happens next is what really matters.

Real video. Not AI.

Every lesson is a real, recorded video filmed in real time — not AI-generated content, not a text-to-video slideshow. You watch the work happen exactly as it would in a professional repair shop, taught with the proper technical language of the profession.

Repair parts and accessories supplied to TTNZ graduates
Connected to our parts supplier

Every graduate of an Advanced Certificate — iPhone Repairs, Smart Phone Repair, or the Double Certificate — is personally connected to our trusted parts and accessories supplier — the same network professional repair shops rely on. We've already done the work of building that relationship, so you don't have to.

We built this because we've been in the industry for 15+ years. We know the hardest part isn't learning to fix phones — it's knowing where to source parts and how to price jobs. Our graduates don't have to figure that out alone.

Global reach

Australian roots.
Regional standard.

What started in one repair business in Australia now trains technicians across the region — including right here through TTNZ. Our proven method travels, because good technique doesn't have a postcode.

Joe
Head Trainer — TTNZ

Joe has spent 15+ years working in and running repair businesses. He has seen every fault, made every mistake, and refined every technique across thousands of real repairs. That experience is what you get when you train with TTNZ — not a presenter who read a manual, but someone who has lived this industry.

He built the training curriculum from scratch — starting with the program used in the Australian training centre and evolving it over years of teaching students of all backgrounds. From complete beginners who had never opened a phone, to experienced technicians retraining for new devices.

Joe's teaching philosophy is simple: slow down, explain why, build the habit. The students who succeed aren't the ones who rushed through — they're the ones who understood.

"I don't just want you to fix one phone. I want you to be able to walk into any repair shop, pick up any device, and know exactly what you're doing."
